After The Whistle
It didn't take too long to learn that not all of the best sports pictures show a goal or a touchdown being scored, and that many times, the reactions just AFTER a big play are full of expressions and stories.
Case in point above - just after the Carleton Place goalie had made a save and held onto the puck, check the separate stories that are taking place - two players jostle at the left of the picture; in front of them a linesman rushes in to break up a potential fight; in front of the goalie, a Carleton Place defender is being pulled off balance by a player to his right; to the right of the picture, two players move in to assist in the discussion, and another Carleton Place player (behind the net) and the goalie have all eyes on the action. The shot is also somewhat unique in that every player is visible and telling his own story. And the shot was taken from my spot at the end of the players' bench behind the OTHER blue line.
