Ottawa’a annual Music and Beyond classical music festival just seems to get better every year, and this summer’s 2016 edition was no exception. Montreal’s Cirque Fantastic kicked off the festival with an evening of amazing performances, and it just got better from there. I was honored to be the lead photographer for the festival once again, and I was able to witness numerous world class events.
Jens Lindeman and Tommy Banks thrilled a captive audience with incredible horns and piano work; the Vienna Piano Trio brought Austria to life in a downtown Ottawa church; Christoper Plummer showed why he is arguably the world’s best Shakespearean actor; Les Violons Du Roy brought their incredible sound to Ottawa’s incomparable Notre Dame Basilica; Charles Richard-Hamelin brought the house down with his performances; the youthful Jan Lisiecki and Stephane Tetreault showed everyone that classical music will be in good hands for many years to come; and the Thirteen Strings Orchestra (with Jennifer Taverner) closed out the festival with an amazing performance.
A selection of my favourite photos from the festival follows.
